How was Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrated?

What is Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav?

The world’s biggest democracy just completed 75 glorious years of independence from the British. And to commemorate and celebrate this feat with a great pomp and show, the Government of India set forth the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. But what is Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the first place?

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is nothing but an initiative set forth by the Central Government to honour and recognize India’s rich history and culture. The Mahotsav is also of the motive to instill a sense of gratitude towards our freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to free our motherland from the shackles of British Raj. This also to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions and achievements of India’s citizens towards her prosperity and development.

The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was inaugurated by Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi by flagging off a 25-day Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad to Dandi on 12th March 2021. The Mahotsav was started as a 75-week countdown to our 76th Independence Day and will end a year later on 15th August, 2023.
